Leacy Piper

Pathways Home

Leacy Piper, science teacher at Anson Jones Middle School in San Antonio, Texas, talks about the changes she made in the way she teaches. Excerpted from the video series Schools That Work: The Research Advantage, videoconference #3, Children as Explorers (NCREL, 1991).

"It really is taking a subject and covering to the point where the kids can really understand it to their ability, to actually take the time to allow students to formulate new ideas and put it into their knowledge base. I really think of myself more as a facilitator or a coach then I do as a teacher."
