Data Use: Data Primer
The Data Primer is an instructional website designed to help educators become more comfortable with thinking about and using data for the purposes of instructional decision making.
Because the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act has placed great emphasis on student assessment data, the Data Primer starts by examining the performance of students using the NCLB metric of percentage at or above proficiency. It's a measure that everyone has access to, needs to make sense of, and should be able to explain. The same methods used to extract meaningful information from the NCLB numbers can be applied to any other numbers that you want to analyze.
