DESCRIPTION
The enGauge framework is a free research-based Web assessment tool that assists schools and districts in evaluating and advancing their use of educational technology. Primarily designed for school educators and administrators, enGauge is a compilation of three major components: comprehension, assessment tools, and resources. The comprehension framework builds an understanding of systemwide factors that influence the effective use of technology. This goal is achieved through a series of success stories, vignettes, and models. New research and current practices on technology provide additional insight and support to educators considering change with their current educational technology framework. The second component is a series of online surveys and offline assessment instruments allowing users to appraise the effectiveness of current technology use, report overall progress made using instructional technology, and obtain profiles of teachers and other professionals at the school. Data from profiles and surveys may be used to identify professional development needs and plan school improvement. The final component is a list of high-impact technology resources customized to each school's needs based on the school's profiles and recommendations by practitioners currently using the resources.
The enGauge framework enables schools and school districts to use technology more effectively by providing a critical, comprehensive, and practical assessment and plan of action for educational technology. Since its initial development in December 2000, enGauge is under continual improvement based on cutting-edge research and feedback from patrons and specialists.
