Reginald Clark, Ph.D., is president of Clark and Associates, an independent consulting firm based in Montclair, California, and currently a lecturer in the Department of Child and Family Studies at California State University, Los Angeles. Dr. Clark has spent much of the last decade doing research on youth development and working as an applied sociologist, assisting schools and other education agencies in developing interventions for youths, parents, and teachers that hold promise for closing the achievement gap. Dr. Clark's first book, Family Life and School Achievement: Why Poor Black Children Succeed or Fail, published in 1983, remains in print today.
