Adolescent Literacy

Welcome to our collection of resources, tools, and information on adolescent literacy. We will be updating information and adding content regularly, so be sure to check in and explore our new resources soon!

This collection is intended to help practitioners, administrators, policymakers, and other stakeholders gather and apply knowledge of necessary elements of curriculum and instruction for adolescents with the goal of helping all students achieve success.

Adolescent literacy is a topic of great importance to many educators, policymakers, and the public. This critical issue is the focus of new legislative efforts, research studies, and instructional changes.

Essential components of a successful program can be determined by defining what one means by the word literacy and developing a conceptual framework based on that definition.

Many reformers claim one of the most important characteristics of an effective school is strong instructional leadership. Instructional leaders must have a deep understanding of the processes of teaching and learning, including knowledge of new teaching methods, student construction of knowledge, and skills in problem solving.
