NCREL Education Issues Analysis: 2001-2002

This yearly analysis of the top education issues for 2001 and into 2002 is based on reports from many sources, including:

  • NCREL networks and advisory groups, including our Teacher Advisory Council, Rural Advisory Council, Regional Educational Policy Research Consortium, and State Education Agency liaisons.

  • NCREL's Annual Constituent Poll.

  • Requests for information through NCREL's Resource Center, as well as topics accessed through NCREL's Pathways to School Improvement Web site.

  • Information from state and national sources such as education agencies and associations, governors' State of the State addresses, and Gallup Polls.

The analysis is not applicable to all geographic regions in the United States. Rather, its purpose is to summarize findings in NCREL's seven-state region and to highlight some national trends and agendas.
