Thinking Through Mathematics (Silver, et al., 1990), one of a series of publications initiated by the College Board's Educational Equality Project, describes how developing more powerful approaches to connecting thinking and mathematics can improve mathematics teaching and learning. Rather than being treated as a special, separate, and final skill, this resource shares strategies for making thinking the substance of the most basic classroom activities for all students in all topics within mathematics. The recommendations include making thinking a regular part of a school program, curriculum, instruction, and assessment for all of the population.
