Online Reading Materials

Full texts of books and plays as well as children's magazines and stories can be found online. Such online texts expand the world of words to students who might otherwise not have such access. They benefit all students, but especially students in schools that have relatively few resources for the acquisition of new books.

The Children's Literature Web Guide provides information on Internet resources and books for children and young adults. Of particular interest is the category of online children's stories, which provides story collections, myths and legends, songs and poetry, classics, and contemporary writing.

The Internet Public Library, Youth Division offers a reading zone, which provides online picture books, short stories, poetry, myths and fables, and stories in Spanish and French. In addition, this Web site also offers online magazines and newspapers, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and almanacs for children and youth.

The Online Books Page provides more than 12,000 listings of free online books.
