three important points in science education. Excerpted from NCREL's videoseries,
Schools That Work: The Research Advantage, videoconference 3, Children
as Explorers (NCREL, 1991).
"In science education I think there are three very important points that we need to get across. First of all, I believe that we need to believe in science knowledge as a tool, not just as a group of facts the students are going to learn. We need to show them that what they're learning is useful to them, so consequently, we can't simply teach process, we have to teach them the content or we have to teach them the process when they need it. If they can see science as a tool and see science is useful to them, they'll be able to use it in their lives to make sense of this world that they're living in."
