Critiical Issue: Buiding a Committed Team Kent Peterson

Pathways Home

Kent Peterson, professor of educational administration, University of Wisconsin-Madison, discusses the challenges of collaboration and the need for coaching. Excerpted from a presentation at NCREL's Urban School Leadership Mini-Conference in July 1993.

"It's hard enough dealing with your own varied needs and interests, let alone collaborating with people. Coaching is needed to help build collaboration. If a group is working together in your school, and they're having difficulties as a group, conflict is increasing, or people are separating, you may need to go in there and coach them on how to work out those differences, on how to communicate and provide feedback."
