In Briar Glenn School, Community Consolidated District 89, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, principal Joan Vydra has enforced the mantra, "Good enough never is."
Joan Vydra:
And you have to create an excitement about the possibilities, so it doesn't happen overnight and, you know, I'll, I'll easily and readily admit my frustration thinking, I'm not sure if I'm in the right place. This was a school that had earned an A+ award from Instructor magazine, um, good enough was and we were either going to burn that plaque together and have a ceremonial burning to recognize we could move on or I, or maybe it wasn't the right place for me. And but it takes timeand five years into it we're, we're in a phenomenal place now, where we're, everyone's on board 100 percent of the teachers, the parents, the staff, um, all headed in a direction of that, good enough, never is and that we will continually improve and look at our systems and the ways everything that we need to do to get better so that every child's needs are, are met, as well as the parents, the teachers, um, you know, we're a community, so everyone's needs need to be met.
