Self-Assessment Instruments
Self-assessment instruments can be used to evaluate a school's approach to professional development. Such instruments are given to members of the group, and each person individually completes one.
The National Staff Development Council (1995) notes that self-assessment instruments help determine "the current state of implementation of the context, process, and content of effective staff development... [and] can be used to reveal strengths as well as areas for improvement" (p. 58).
