
Comprehensive Services

Comprehensive services includes the entire spectrum of programs,
strategies, and organizations in the school and the community that are designed
to prevent or intervene with alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) use,
violence, and other at-risk behaviors.
School
At the school level, the following programs, strategies, and organizations are
helpful in reducing at-risk behaviors:

At the community level, the following programs, strategies, and organizations
are helpful in reducing at-risk behavior:
- Neighborhood-based early intervention programs
- Social welfare services
- Anti-drug campaigns
- Media campaigns
- Control of pro-use messages in advertising
- Support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous
- Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)
- Public service announcements
- Training of those selling tobacco or serving alcohol
- Public policy initiatives
- Parenting classes
- Counseling
- Adults serving as mentors
- Continuing education for dropouts
