Neighborhood Assets Map

Pathways Home

McKnight and Kretzmann (1990) developed the Neighborhood Assets Map to emphasize the resources that are available for community development. The map differentiates between assets that are controlled by the community and assets that are controlled by outsiders. It views the community as an active interchange of human and financial resources, energy, creativity, and ideas. The schools are considered important "building blocks" in the community.
