School-Community-Agency Partnerships

Schools do not exist in a vacuum. They influence and are influenced by the communities in which they exist. Community crime and violence will be reflected in the local school. Therefore, effective measures to improve school order and safety must involve the community. School personnel must become involved with community agencies such as the police, welfare agencies, churches, and businesses in a concerted effort to attack the causes of crime and violence. Likewise, community agencies must respond cooperatively to incidents of crime and violence in the school.
