CURRICULUM INFUSION LESSON PLAN FORM

Grade: 5-8

Subject Area: Language Arts

Lesson Objectives: To infuse TAOD Education/Prevention information into my subject lesson.

Subject Objective: To:

  1. Write a short play or skit.
  2. To write from the point of view of body parts;

Prevention Objective: To:

  1. Understand the health risks of smoking.
  2. To understand the physiological damage done to the body's organs as a result of smoking.

Assessment Criteria:

  1. Grade the written play.
  2. Analyze the video of the dramitization of the play.

Activities & Strategies

Resources & Materials

  1. Students will read in their groups about the dangers of smoking.
  2. Students will take notes of key points to highlight in their plays, with relation to physiological damage.
  3. Students will write a short play. The characters will be the body parts affected by the smoking. The body parts will vocally and physically demonstrate damage incurred in them.
  4. Students will rehearse their short plays.
  5. Students will act out their plays while we videotape them
  6. As a class we will analyze for effectiveness and dramatic effectiveness
  1. Smoking pamphlets
  2. Construction materials for making props
  3. Paper
  4. Video camera
  5. Video tape
