Equity Concerns

"Equity goals in vocational education can be achieved
within three teaching-learning processes: the curriculum, the
learning environment, and learner-teacher interactions.
Equity-related concepts, skills, and knowledge need to be
actively
included in the curriculum at each stage of development and
implementation. When they are bound by bias and stereotyping,
learners experience restricted educational opportunities and
achievement, which leads to limited occupational and other life
choices. Vocational education legislation and other related
legislative mandates demand the inclusion and equal participation
of all students regardless of gender, race, age, ethnicity, or
disability." (Dougherty & Ellibee, 1994, p. 29)
