Fixed-Response Tests

Fixed-response tests are tests that include a collection of items for which there is one right answer. Students do not construct an answer; instead, they pick their answer from the options provided.

Fixed-response tests typically are machine scored. Examples of such tests include publisher-developed multiple choice tests such as the California Achievement Test, and item banks such as the North West Evaluation Association (NWEA) Item Banks.
