Observation Scales

Observation scales define specific criterion performances (desired skills and behaviors) of students and also may identify a developmental range of student behavior that moves toward criterion performance. Teachers are trained to systematically observe students in multiple environments to evaluate performance. Observation scales are useful in evaluating student progress toward a standard and often encourage evaluation based on a holistic picture of the student as a learner.
