"When I sit down and have the parent conferences with my student's parents I always have the student there because it's about them, and the mom and the dad hopefully because they're a family unit together. I show them those assessments, and what they get from it, I believe, is a real sense of where there children are, what they know how to do in reading and math, etc. The standardized tests don't do that.
