Education Reform

Pathways Home

A research project conducted by SRI International for the Office of Educational Research and Improvement examined nine school sites where school staff incorporated technology in ways that support educational reform (Office of Educational Research and Improvement, n.d.). At these sites, technology serves the goals of education reform by contributing to student learning through challenging tasks, new student and teaching roles, professionalization of teachers, and creation of a culture that supports learning in and out of the classroom.

Using Technology to Support Education Reform, a 1993 report published by the U.S. Department of Education, discusses types of educational technologies, support for student learning activities and teacher functions, the effect of technology on student achievement, and implementation strategies.
