Hawaii State Department
of EducationIn its Strategic Plan for Information Technology (cited in Microsoft in Education, 1996), the Hawaii State Department of Education lists the following goals concerning equity:
"Voice, data, and video to every public school classroom by the year 2000. In a sentence, this is the basic vision for information technology, and to accomplish this, the Department of Education's information technologies must:
- Ensure equity of access to information resources to all persons involved in learning in the State of Hawaii.
- Ensure ubiquitous access to the Department of Education's information and telecommunications systems and services from any place at any time.
- Ensure coordinated and integrated access to the Department of Education's information and telecommunication systems and services so that public information resources are easily, readily, and cost-effectively available to everyone, while privacy and personal information are carefully protected."
