America's
Choice Design Network
America's Choice Design Network, formerly the National Alliance for Restructuring Education, is a program of the National Center on Education and the Economy. The network works with member states and school districts to restructure schools and state education policy. Members encourage states to adopt a Certificate of Initial Mastery (CIM), which requires all students to achieve common standards in math, English, science, and applied learning (using learning to solve real-world problems) in order to graduate from high school. A broad coalition of educators, businesses, school systems, child advocates, and community members are developing the CIM standards. The network also is working with the New Standards Project to develop a performance-based assessment system for measuring student progress toward the CIM standards.
